Hi Mike and James, I am a
Hi Mike and James,
I am a Family Nurse Practitioner in the US, and I recently discovered your fabulous podcasts. I have listened to almost all, and will relisten from the beginning. I absolutely adore and appreciate your input and clever humor. I just made a small donation to the cause in the hopes that you will keep going strong.
I have tried to turn everyone I can think of on to your podcasts from fellow NPs, to physicians and pharmacists. Sadly, I feel that most don't care to be educated, or have their ideas of correct management challenged. I, however, love it!
Can you please address the idea of how high is too high in an acutely hypertensive patient? I grew up in the ICU setting where we gave sublingual Procardia to patients (cringe!), and I understand now that rapid lowering can lead to harm, but what would you say is the cut-off where we need to do something NOW? Is there not increased immediate stroke risk with really elevated numbers?
Could you also consider doing a podcast on thyroid issues?
Keep up the good work. We need and appreciate you!
Jan Wiles, FNP-C
