One thing to remember in the nursing home population is that it is the nurses who ask for drugs from the physicians and they almost always get what they ask for. I am working hard in my setting to convince the nurses that they really need to understand what it is they want the MD to do and that they have a very healthy disbelief that a medication is the first or best answer.
